Pittsburgh Weather
I learned two things about recent weather conditions in Pittsburgh in the past five minutes. First, it snowed for at least one hour this morning (0700-0800) at the airport. Second, the forecasted low temperature for tomorrow has dropped by about ten degrees to "the upper 20s," according to NOAA.
Also, according to NOAA, tomorrow is Veterans Day. I don't really know what that means... we're supposed to think a bit about the enlisted men and women who helped make America the biggest, most bad-ass war machine ever? Well, that's cool. I've heard people in my family have been in the service, and that works for me. I just think America's recent armed excursions have been a bit off the deep end.
The morality debate rages on.

Ahhh....Veteran's Day....the day that commemorates Armistice Day, bringing World War I to a conclusion. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all the people that gave their lives for the cause of freedom over the past 230 years. Thank you very much for your noble sacrifice!
Also, today, most banks are closed in observance of Veteran's Day. However, it almost was not the case. Earlier in 2005, Chase Bank actually made a public announcement that it planned to be open on Veteran's Day. However, there was a huge uproar among Veterans' Groups, saying that such a decision amounted to near heresy. The Veterans' groups said, basically, "How dare you! You're telling us that you are going to be open on Veterans Day, but you were closed in 2005 on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day? This amounts to Chase Bank thinking that MLK Jr Day is somehow more important than a day to honor the millions who have died for freedom. We dare you to be open on Veterans Day because if you are, we will come about in force against Chase Bank."
So, Chase Bank decided that they didn't want to put up with a bunch of problems from Veterans' Groups, and so now we are closed on Veteran's Day. Hmmm...democracy in action. Interesting how that works.
