Bagpiper
The Chronicle of Higher Education is running a meta-article (the real one is from the Wall Street Journal, which requires registration) about the country's only bagpiping major, Mr. Nick Hudson, a freshman who is getting a $7,000-per-year scholarship to play. If you guessed he attends Carnegie Mellon, you would be correct. The best part of this gig seems to be that the university subsidizes his kilt purchases. Cool!

Congratulations to Mr. Nick Hudson for majoring in the bagpipes. I understand that he is getting $7000 per year from CMU to play. My question: How much will he be getting per year after he graduates? What does one do with a major in bagpipes? I'm picturing his first interview in the real world when he applies for a position of junior staff accountant, or some such. The interviewer will ask, "So, Mr. Hudson, thank you for coming in for your interview today. Can you tell me what skills you acquired from your major in... {interviewer quickly glances at resume} ...bagpiping that will help benefit us here at USA Toilet Cleaning?" Who knows. Maybe he'll make it onto next year's Fox reality TV show, "So you think you can bagpipe?"
