Signs of Autumn

As the weather gets colder and the skies grow whiter, the landscape changes in step. The first part of the transformation from lush summer greenery to the harsh lifelessness of winter manifests itself in the appearance of the trees. Some of the trees around me have already changed color completely, and some don't show any signs of that.

I present to you some pictures I took in my back yard yesterday. Click them to enlarge.

My favorite is the photo of the silhouette of the trees against the brightly-lit evening clouds.

What signs of autumn have you seen so far?

pretty pretty!

Signs of autumn? In Houston, Texas? Not a single one as of yet. In fact, my parents, who live in Dallas, go up to New England in the fall to see the leaves change color. That's one thing I am sad about when I think about living in Houston, TX. I wish I lived in a place that had abundant natural beauty. Living in Vermont or New Hampshire would be way cool. I was recently in Bend, Oregon and that place has absolutely incredible natural beauty. Or maybe something like Sausalito, California, which has sweeping vistas of the San Francisco skyline juxtaposed against the beauty of the Pacific Ocean. Texas does have a few places of natural beauty but they are few and far between. Texas, in addition to not having a single international city (IMHO), just pales in comparison to many other places in the US for natural beauty. It's no wonder why so many people who live in New York City have a weekend home out in Connecticut. It's absolutely beautiful there. Where should I have my weekend home?
